Tressa Pope, MBA, Founder/Owner/Mortgage Broker
Okay, I admit it—I’m tenacious when it comes to finding answers and solving mortgage loan challenges.
Colleagues often reach out when their deals head south—and I’m always ready to roll up my sleeves and help out. Solving problems is part of what drives me… it’s a combination of my tenacity and my deep passion for seeing others purchase their own home.
While I’m always ready to assist a homebuyer, I do have an affinity for helping low-income minority families acquire their first loan. I also enjoy helping small business owners and people who work in the arts because I love removing roadblocks and beating the odds.
I too began my career in the entertainment industry. When I made a career pivot, I began at the bottom rung of the mortgage industry ladder. It seemed no one wanted to help me move up so, I created opportunities to advance my career on my own—and it worked!
With over 20 years of mortgage lending experience, extensive corporate growth, and earning an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management, I took another risk and started TPG Mortgage Lending so that I could help a wider range of people and families achieve their homeownership dreams.
I am proud of the service level my team and I are able to deliver and I never get tired of celebrating the close of each client’s escrow—no matter how complicated the journey was to get to that all-important “YES!”

I thought I was fortunate when my parents helped me with a down payment to buy my first home. But my luck skyrocketed when the value of that house more than doubled within the first six months of moving in. After years of paying rent, I quickly got to experience the satisfaction of homeownership ROI!
Attempting to buy a home the second time wasn’t quite as easy. Tressa and I were getting married and we wanted a larger home but the house we had set our sights on already had multiple offers.
Fortunately, my mortgage-savvy wife had us write a personal note along with our offer. In the letter, we shared exactly why we wanted to buy that particular home. Well, the personal touch paid off! Ours wasn’t the largest offer submitted but apparently, it was the most meaningful. That is how Tressa and I end up owning a house with a big yard for our two dogs, comfortable nooks for our kitties, and a great rehearsal and recording space for our creative passions.
Over the last several years, I joined Tressa and the TPG Mortgage Lending team, both as a loan officer and a strategic alliance partner. The loan officer role is easy to understand—I help people qualify for mortgages—even when it gets challenging.
My role as our strategic alliance partner may be less clear but it’s all about building relationships with real estate agents so that we can make excellent referrals for our clients and help joint deals go through smoothly. Nothing satisfies me more than seeing people who didn’t think they could end up buying their first home—the thrill never wears off.

After my husband and I were prequalified for a mortgage and were about to celebrate our new marriage by buying a home, I was sure my home ownership dreams were about to slide right down the drain when I unexpectedly got laid off. The loss of my income seemed like a straight path to defeat but, thankfully, Tressa Pope had other ideas.
Tressa, our mortgage broker, stayed calm and re-crunched our numbers. Then she recommended that we scale down the price of our target home and we ended up finding a wonderful place that fit into our new budget. We were so thrilled that we invited Tressa to our housewarming party—and she was the life of the party!
Months later when I found out that Tressa was looking for a junior Loan Officer, I was ready to give up my intermittent temp work and try something new. I understood, first-hand, the high level of service that would be expected of me and I was more than ready to give that level of support to others after experiencing it firsthand for myself.
Today, I help our clients through each stage of the loan application process and ensure their loan packages are complete. Since each situation is different, I guide our clients through every step of the loan qualifying process without making assumptions or taking shortcuts.
Working for TPG Mortgage Lending has been so rewarding that I’m currently working on getting my own mortgage lending license!
